Multi-species nucleation rates in CLOUD
In the CLOUD experiment at CERN we have been investigating the chemical species that are most important to atmospheric new particle formation. Sulphuric acid plays a key role in aerosol nucleation, but other vapours and ions can strongly enhance the formation rate. Quantifying the contribution of each species and the conditions under which each one is important is a major challenge and requires...
متن کاملA Stochastic Programming Approach for a Multi-Site Supply Chain Planning in Textile and Apparel Industry under Demand Uncertainty
In this study, a new stochastic model is proposed to deal with a multi-product, multi-period, multi-stage, multi-site production and transportation supply chain planning problem under demand uncertainty. A two-stage stochastic linear programming approach is used to maximize the expected profit. Decisions such as the production amount, the inventory level of finished and semi-finished product, t...
متن کاملEffective transition rates for epitaxial growth using fast modulation
Thin-film deposition is an industrially important process that is highly dependent on the processing conditions. Most films are grown under constant conditions, but a few studies show that modified properties may be obtained with periodic inputs. However, assessing the effects of modulation experimentally becomes impractical with increasing material complexity. Here we consider periodic conditi...

متن کاملA Stochastic Competing-species Model and Ergodicity
Weconsider a classic competing-speciesmodelwith the rates changed to includeGaussian white noise. We show that if the noise is not too large, then the stochastic version is ergodic. An explicit relation between the noise and the original competing-species parameters gives a sufficient condition for ergodicity.
